About Jyan
Jyan Waespe was more than just a son, brother, and friend—he was the kind of person who left a lasting mark on everyone who knew him. His kindness, contagious smile, and passion for life made him someone you couldn’t help but love. Born and raised in Mason, Ohio, Jyan graduated from Mason High School in May 2022, with a bright future ahead of him. Tragically, he passed away in a car accident on June 14, 2022, at the age of 18.
Jyan had a deep love for cars—not just driving them, but understanding them, modifying them, and pushing them to their limits. Whether it was drifting in parking lots, spending late nights in the garage working on a project, or brainstorming the next modification, cars were more than just machines to him; they were a passion, a lifestyle, and a way to connect with the people he cared about. He was always the first to lend a hand when someone needed help fixing their car, never hesitating to get his hands dirty or share what he knew.
His love for Star Wars, computers, and ice cream was just as strong, but nothing could compare to the excitement he had when talking about horsepower, turbochargers, and perfecting a drift. Some of the best moments were spent behind the wheel, testing out mods, feeling the adrenaline, and sharing that love for cars with his closest friends.
Jyan’s legacy lives on not just in the hearts of those who knew him but also in the countless lives he will continue to touch through the Jyan Waespe Car & Bike Show. This event honors his passion by providing scholarships for students pursuing careers in automotive mechanics, ensuring that his love for cars continues to inspire and support the next generation.
Though his time with us was far too short, the impact he made was immeasurable. Every roar of an engine, every perfectly executed drift, and every late-night garage session will serve as a reminder of the incredible person Jyan was and the passion he brought to everything he did.
Beyond his passion for cars and racing, Jyan’s greatest joy was his family. He shared a deep and loving bond with his girlfriend, Kayla, who stood by his side through a very important chapter of his life. Together, they dreamed of building a future filled with love, adventure, and the thrill of the open road.
Tragically, Jyan never got the chance to meet his son, Tobias, who was born after his passing. Despite never knowing his father in person, Tobias has inherited Jyan’s passion for cars and racing. Tobias enjoys everything automotive—whether pointing out every car on the road, memorizing F1 teams, or helping with his “tools” in the garage, just like his dad.
He has a connection to the father he never met but whose spirit lives on in him.
Through Kayla and Tobias, Jyan’s legacy continues—not just in the memories of those who knew him, but in the very heartbeat of his son.
